T2 Mosaic Madness for House and Garden
The beauty of mosaics is that it can be functional, practical, whimsical and artistic. If you like order and balance or painterly and artistic you can work in any way that suits, even combining both approaches. Come with a project in mind or come and choose your project with help. Mosaics is rich with new ideas and approaches. Perhaps some garden pavers, a pot or mosaicing onto a 3D object for the garden. Or maybe a work to hang on the wall. The choice is yours.
For new student's basic tools can be provided to try. while you decide on what you may need depending on your choice of materials and project. If you buy tiler nippers or wheeled glass cutters, keep the receipt in case they are not suitable (i.e easy to use) and you will be helped with choosing what suits you. However, bring an old towel, any tiles, glass and crockery you may wish to use in your work. Bring your design if you have one. As the course progresses you will need to purchase glue and grout and suitable protective gear like gloves. All this will be explained in a handout and can be got as the need arises. For returning students, I say, bring it on!
For grouting please bring:
- Dust mask
- Apron
- Disposable or rubber gloves
- Grout
Students must wear enclosed shoes.
Learning Outcomes: Students will develop both technical and creative confidence during the process of designing and making a mosaic. The work atmosphere will encourage the sharing and questioning of their own and others works as a means of developing both confidence and creative skills and knowledge.
